Monday, January 15, could see temperatures as low as minus two degrees as the Met Office warns that motorists should stay vigilant when travelling and anticipate ice on the roads.

The sun is set to shine over Southampton for brief periods on both Monday and Tuesday, January 16 – with Tuesday looking slightly warmer, seeing highs of five degrees.

The rest of the week follows this trend with highs of 4 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday.

Friday, January 19, is also due to have sunshine for periods, with conditions remaining icy.

This comes after the Met Officer issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: “Much colder with sharp overnight frosts, also dry until Wednesday when there is a risk of snow along the south coast. Breezy at times with significant wind chill.”

Tuesday – Highs of five degrees and lows of one degree with skies partly cloudy changing to sunny intervals by late morning.

Wednesday – Highs of four degrees and lows of minus two degrees with clouds

Thursday - Highs of four degrees and lows of minus one degree with clear skies

Friday - Highs of six degrees and lows of two degrees with clear skies and sunny intervals.
