As resported recently in the Daily Echo, Southampton nightclub Suburbia has closed its doors for the final time following low turnouts to gigs and club nights.
The club, formerly known as Lennon’s, had been a large part of the city’s nightlife for more almost 30 years with bands such as The Kooks, Nothing but Thieves, Maximo Park and Southampton rock group Band of Skulls gracing its stage.
Lennon’s was also home to the popular Club Psychedelia night which hosted rising stars such as Royal Blood and played a major part in Southampton’s thriving music scene.
In 2014, the owner put the club up for sale.
After sitting empty for a couple of years, the venue became Suburbia and was made a live music venue once more.
But now, after pressures inflicted by the Covid-19 lockdowns and the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, the club had no option than to shut from January 6.
These pictures were mostly taken during its time as Lennon’s.
