Roadworks have now started to connect a school to a major Hampshire road as part of a 6,000-home development.
The works on the A32 Wickham Road in Fareham near junction 10 of the M27 will bring a new entrance road to Boundary Oak School.
They are part of the Welborne housing development and also include road widening at the junction, a new pedestrian crossing, drainage repairs and resurfacing.
The entrance will include a new left in-left out access point to the school and in due course, will replace the current Pook Lane entrance.
Works outside of the road started on January 8 but temporary traffic lights have now been installed to allow for works to be carried out until February 24.
The main carriageway will be resurfaced and both lanes will be closed overnight for four nights starting on February 26.
Motorists have been advised to look for alternative routes during the roadworks as there may be delays.
