The following cases have been heard at Southampton Magistrates' Court...

STEPHEN BISHOP, 54, of Cranbury Terrace, Southampton pleaded guilty to possessing a controlled drug of Class B, namely amphetamine. He received a six-month conditional discharge and an order was made for the forfeiture and destruction of the drugs. 

OLALEKAN AKANNI, 29, of Chisholm Road, Croydon admitted to being in charge of a vehicle with a proportion of a controlled drug above the limit, namely THC - a breakdown product of cannabis. He was caught driving on Crosshouse Road, Southampton. Akanni was fined £500 and received ten points on his licence. He was ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a £200 surcharge. 

JESSE GREEN, 27, of Newport Road, Freshwater pleaded guilty to driving without insurance and driving whilst disqualified on Parkside Avenue, Southampton. Green was driving an Audi RS3. Green was disqualified for two years and ordered to pay a £1,000 and £85 court costs.

LEE CLIFTON, 50, of no fixed abode admitted a charge of assault by beating at Gordon Buildings on Shirley High Street. He was fined £162 and must pay £320 court costs plus a £65 surcharge. 

ANDREW MATTHEW, 54, of Southampton Street, Southampton pleaded guilty to theft from a shop in relation to two Christmas Gillette gift sets worth £20 from Asda, Southampton. He also admitted assault by beating and causing criminal damage worth £50 to a police van. Matthew received a 14-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay £50 compensation.

PIOTR GURKOWSKI, 43, of Coxford Road, Southampton pleaded guilty to three counts of theft from a shop relating to £559.96 worth of tracksuits stolen from Foot Locker, Foot Asylum and North Face at Bluewater Shopping Centre in Greenhithe, Kent. He also admitted a charge of going equipped for theft having been caught with a pair of pliers and racially or religiously aggravated intentional harassment, alarm or distress. Gurkowski was given a one-year community order with 20 days of rehabilitation activity.
