The history between Southampton and Huddersfield Town isn’t one of intense rivalry, but it does present some interesting matchups over the years, particularly as they have faced each other in various English league divisions.
The teams haven’t met frequently in recent years due to being in different divisions with their last encounter being the 2019-20 season in which Saints winning one and drawing the other - 1-1 at home and 3-1 away.
Prior to that, the two teams last met in the Premier League in 2017-18, with both games a draw - 1-1 at home and 0-0 away.
Altogether the two teams have played one another 30 times with Southampton winning 13 of the clashes. The Terriers managed 11 victories while drawing on six occasions.
Southampton has enjoyed more success overall. However, Huddersfield has held the upper hand in FA Cup clashes, winning both their encounters.
Both teams have a strong home record against one another, with victories in more than 60 per cent of their home matches.
The upcoming match on Saturday holds more significance due to their current league positions. Southampton, in 2nd place, will be looking to solidify their promotion push, while Huddersfield, battling relegation in 21st, will seek an upset to improve their standings.
