Thousands of households were without internet after broadband provider toob crashed.
The fibre broadband supplier, which covers Southampton and Hampshire, has confirmed why the outage happened.
Posting on X, toob said: “Last night we experienced a failure to a core switch in one of our data centres which should not have affected our customers, but this had a broader impact to our network and some customers lost connectivity.
“We will continue to monitor the service carefully over the coming days while we investigate the root cause of the issue.”

Unhappy customers described it as a ‘poor service’, with many saying they were ‘in the dark’ about the issues.
The provider confirmed normal service has resumed and apologised for the inconvenience the issued caused.
