The police hunt continues for three men that were seen with machetes in Athelstan Road in Southampton.

Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that enquiries are ongoing into the incident as the search continues for the armed trio.

The men were spotted by on-lookers after a collision on Athelstan Road, near to the junction of Garfield Road, on Tuesday night, just before 10pm.

The driver of a VW Estate had collided with the driver of a Dodge Journey, with the VW driver leaving the scene after the crash.

This was shortly before a third car pulled up, and the three armed men got out - and were seen travelling in the direction of Bitterne Road West.

Police confirmed that they had located a “significant amount of cash and suspected Class A drugs inside one of the vehicles” – but did not reveal which car they were found.

The force also said that three people sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision.

It is understood police have not made any arrests in connection with this incident at present.
