The yellow weather warning for rain is set to be in place from 3pm on Saturday as spells heavy downpour pushes east across much of England and Wales – including Southampton.
Travel disruption is likely could result in bus and train services being affected with journey times taking longer.
The Met Office has warned that flooding of some homes and businesses is likely as well as some interruption to power supplies.
