A Southampton school has announced the construction of a new community sports facility.
Oasis Academy Sholing, in Middle Road, will get a new sports hall, reception area and office space thanks to the works.
The building work began in May 2023, with construction now fully underway, and a finish date has been set for August 2024.
Principal, Martin Brown, said to parents: “We are thrilled to share our exciting news with you all that our new sports hall and reception area will be completed within the next few months.

“As members of our vibrant school community, we understand the importance of providing our students with exceptional opportunities for growth and development, both academically and physically.
“With the addition of this state-of-the-art facility, we are taking a significant step towards enhancing the overall educational experience for our children.”
The second sports hall will serve as a hub for several sports, including badminton, tennis, gymnastics and, what the school described as “indoor soccer".
The school said that the new facilities would also be used for extracurricular sports programs, extended lunch facilities and competitions, helping students stay active and develop their skills.
Additionally, the new building will also serve as a space for school events, assemblies, and community gatherings.
The sports halls design will allow the academy to host a wide range of activities and community events.
The principal continued: "As parents and members of the community, your support and involvement is invaluable to us, and we encourage you to share in our excitement as we embark on this new chapter together.
“We will keep you updated on the progress of the construction and look forward to celebrating the grand opening of our new sports hall with all of you in the near future.”
