The body of a man was found in a nature reserve this morning.
Police officers were called to Miller’s Pond in Sholing at 10.05am today.
This followed a report that the body of a man had been discovered in woodland nearby.
A file is being prepared for the coroner in relation to this unexpected death.
A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said: “We were called at 10.05am today (Tuesday, February 20) to a report that the body of a man had been found in woodland close to Miller’s Pond.
“A file is being prepared for the coroner in relation to this unexpected death.”
A cordon was in place from the nature reserve's entrance on Spring Road along the footpath, ending just past the pond.
Three police cars were parked on Spring Road, with around four officers patrolling the scene.
They remained onsite throughout the day from 10am onwards.
Miller's Pond could still be accessed via the Spring road entrance if those walking through used the left-hand path.
Meanwhile, those entering from Portsmouth Road could walk towards the pond before reaching the cordon, forcing them to turn right.
