A Southampton father has told of his “shock and disgust” after his daughter found blue plastic in his quarter-pounder Tesco chicken burger.
Rob Bignell, 49, was horrified when eating dinner with his wife and two daughters one of the children found a burger had a nasty surprise.
The father of two said one of his daughters, 16, was a third of the way through her burger when a bite revealed something blue inside the quarter-pounder.
The family said they were in shock after they found a piece of blue plastic inside – which they think has come from a factory in which the burger was produced.
Rob, who lives in Thornhill, said: “I was completely shocked and disgusted.
“I could not believe my eyes – and we were really concerned that my daughter may have already eaten some of the plastic.
“Both my daughters are autistic and have big issues with food and texture - so finding a bit of plastic is a major hurdle in her diet.”

The burgers had been delivered to the famiy's home on Wednesday, February 14 and soon after the meal Rob attempted to contact Tesco.
“We have been really ticked off by the response from Tesco," he said. "There is no obvious way of reporting incidents such as this online.
“I rang up the store from which the product came from – Tesco in Bursledon – and a store manager said they were going to investigate.
“I was then given a £5 voucher.
“It would have been nice to get a proper apology – it felt like Tesco were not at all interested.”
In case the burger is required for Tesco’s investigation, Rob said the family has since keptit in a zip-locked bag in the freezer.
In response, a Tesco spokesperson said: "We’re sorry to hear about this and are investigating with our supplier.
“The customer can return the product for a refund, and to help us look into what happened."
Rob said he found Tesco’s repose to be poor.
