Tenpin Southampton has unveiled a new look after narrowly avoiding closure last year.
Civic chiefs had approved plans to turn the site into a builders’ merchant before a petition that garnered more than 100 signatures helped save the facility.
This allowed Tenpin to ‘completely transform’ the 36-lane bowling alley, the company said.
The entertainment centre has been a hub for the local community in Auckland Road for more than three decades, and the upgrade will provide friends, families and students in the area with an extensive range of competitive socialising activities.
Tenpin’s revamped entertainment centre will offer a fantastic range of thrilling activities for visitors to enjoy, including 36 bowling lanes, four private karaoke rooms, five escape rooms by award-winning Houdini’s, a soft play area for children and an upgraded arcade space with the latest high-tech video games.
Tenpin is also introducing a show-stopping Prison Putt indoor golfing experience, giving mini-golf enthusiasts the chance to ‘putt’ their skills to the test across 15 interactive prison-themed holes.

Groups up for a challenge can battle it out in Tenpin’s futuristic laser tag arena, while problem-solving experts must work as a team to decipher hidden clues in one of five incredible escape room experiences.
Guests can choose from Escape from Alcatraz, Extinct: Escape from Jurassic Island, Poppa Plock's Wonky Workshop, RMS Titanic or Hexmore: School of Witchcraft & Wizardry and solve the puzzles before time runs out.
As well as a wide variety of state-of-the-art competitive socialising experiences, Tenpin also offers a fully licensed bar with an extensive selection of food and drinks, including a wide range of cocktails and mocktails, as well as TVs across the venue that show all live games on Sky Sports and TNT Sports.
General manager Daniel Draper said: “We are hugely proud of Tenpin’s transformation in Southampton, and the team is immensely excited to showcase the wide range of exciting activities that cater to customers of all ages.
“We know how important the venue is to the local community, and our investment in the site is sure to make it the perfect place for friends and families to spend time together.”
He added: “As a central hub for the community, we are keen to offer something for everyone to enjoy, and we look forward to welcoming loyal customers newcomers alike to experience all that Tenpin has to offer.”
