A former Fareham Borough Council mayor and councillor has died.
Fareham Borough Council has said Brian Bayford passed away on Friday, February 9 at Queen Alexandra Hospital.
He was fondly remembered by his fellow councillors and colleagues.
The well-respected borough councillor represented the Park Gate ward between 2002-2018, during which time he served as Mayor of Fareham in 2010-2011.

He also served as the Executive Member for Health and Environment, the Executive Member for Streetscene and the Executive Member for Health and Housing during his tenure.
In recognition and acknowledgement of his services, he became an Honorary Alderman in 2018, with his wife, Councillor Susan Bayford, presenting him with his Alderman Citation in her role as Mayor at that time.
A civic funeral service will take place at St Mary’s Church, Warsash at 1pm on Thursday, February 29 for those who wish to pay their respects.

A spokesperson for Fareham Borough Council said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with Councillor Susan Bayford and all of Alderman Brian Bayford’s family at this very difficult time.”
