Nine Southampton businesses have been awarded new food hygiene ratings, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.
Eight of the nine businesses were awarded a five rating – the highest possible score – while Red Dragon, a Chinese takeaway in Freemantle received a rating of three, having been inspected on January 19, 2024.
The takeaway retained its score of three out of five having previously been inspected in September 2022.
Red Dragon was deemed to be ‘generally satisfactory’ by the inspector in hygienic food handling, cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, as well as management of food safety.

Elsewhere, both Café Rittaza at Southampton Central Station’s Platform 1 and Café Thrive in Hanover Buildings received a five food hygiene rating.
Seven five out of five ratings have also been handed to the following takeaways: Pizza GoGo (Millbrook Road West), Pizza GoGo (Bedford Place), Star Fish Bar, Atlantic Fish & Chips, Papa John’s (Thornhill Park Road), and Papa John’s (The Broadway).
