The Brickworks Museum in Hampshire is not at risk of closure, trustees and staff have recently confirmed.
Staff at the museum have given the reassurance after becoming aware that members of the community, and visitors from further-afield, had confused the museum with other local museums that are at risk of closure.
In January, Hampshire Cultural Trust (HCT) announced that four of its museums were at risk of closure due to a potential cut in funding from Hampshire County Council.
Last year, HCT also announced that it would cease operating Bursledon Windmill with effect from 31 March 2024.
This latter announcement may be the main cause of confusion as the Brickworks Museum was formerly known as the Bursledon Brickworks.
However, the Brickworks Museum trustees and staff have since said: "The Brickworks Museum in Hampshire is not under any threat of closure".
They have stated that the museum is not only 'thriving', but it is also preparing to kickstart the 2024 season on March 24 with an array of events.
One highlight is the unveiling of a fresh walkway over the expansive brick kiln which historically produced bricks for thousands of local houses.
A new art installation co-ordinated with the Imperial War Museum will also be unveiled.
