The following cases have been heard at Southampton Magistrates' Court...

TYRONE HARRIS, 37, of Millbrook Road East, Southampton pleaded guilty to possessing a controlled drug of Class B, namely cannabis in Portsmouth. He was fined £80 and must pay a £32 surcharge. An order was made for the forfeiture and destruction of the drugs.

RICHARD WRATE, 30, of no fixed abode pleaded guilty to two counts of theft from a shop after two bottles of cognac and a bottle of fruit juice worth £81.85 were stolen from Marks and Spencer in New Milton. Two bottles of Jack Daniels and a bottle of Champagne worth £111 in total were also stolen from Morrisons, New Milton. Wrate was ordered to pay back the value of the stolen items in compensation. He was also fined £40 and must pay a £16 surcharge.

BARBARA BABICZ, 34, of International Way, Southampton pleaded guilty to drink driving on Church Street, Southampton. She was caught with 60 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath. Babicz was banned from driving for 17 months and fined £120. She must also pay a £48 surcharge. 

PETER BAINES, 71, of Station Road, Netley admitted to drink driving on Bert Betts Way, Southampton. He was caught with 83 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath. Baines was banned from driving for 18 months and fined £288. He must also pay £85 court costs and a £115 surcharge. 

AMRIT SINGH, 23, of Mandela Way, Southampton pleaded guilty to assault by beating of an emergency worker. He also admitted to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress. Both these offences relate to a police officer. He was given a one-year community order with 100 hours of unpaid work. Singh must pay £100 compensation, £85 court costs and a £114 surcharge.
