An Aldi supermarket being built beside two football clubs is set to open in August, creating up to 40 jobs.
The 1,890sqm discount store is springing up on previously undeveloped land next to AFC Totton and Totton and Eling FC, which occupy adjoining sites at Salisbury Road in Calmore.
New Forest District Council approved the scheme in December 2022.
A report to members cited concerns about the danger of unauthorised parking on match days but added: "Overall, the [proposed] development is positive.
"It will provide a further choice of supermarket to serve the community within Totton as well as the proposed housing developments within the local vicinity."
"The application is supported by a retail impact assessment which considers the impact of the proposed store on Totton town centre, Southampton city centre, and nearby centres.

"The council has no evidence to counter the conclusions of the assessment, namely that the impact on Totton town centre and other centres would not be significant."
As reported, hundreds of new houses are due to be built in the Calmore and Hillstreet areas.
"Demand for food retailing will grow as land north of Totton delivers new homes in close proximity to the site," said the report.
"The scheme would have economic, environmental and social benefits, preserving the character and appearance of the area. The amenity of local residents, including those residing at the adjoining caravan site can be preserved."

Cllr Joe Reilly told fellow members of the district planning committee that the store would be a "great addition" to Totton.
Cllr Sue Bennison added: "This is an ideal space given the amount of housing coming forward in the local plan. I think the store will do really well."
The scheme was backed by the town council, which said it would provide shoppers with more choice as well as creating jobs.
Plans to build a supermarket on the site were unveiled in 2021.
Speaking at the time Aldi property director Lee McCandless said: "The store would make use of a currently under-utilised site which has been earmarked for development."
Aldi is developing a semi-rural area of land known as Little Testwood Farm.
A company spokesperson told the Daily Echo: "Construction of our new Totton store is progressing well as we move towards opening in August this year.
"This will create up to 40 jobs for the community and enable local people to shop and save closer to home."
