A police raid at a Southampton hotel led to two people being arrested.

As part of an investigation into a burglary, officers descended on Ibis Budget on Wednesday evening to make the arrests. 

A 52-year-old woman from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, harassment, assault of an emergency worker.

A 56-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and possession of a controlled drug of class A.

The burglary happened in Heathfield Close, Southampton, between 4pm and 5pm on March 8. 

An eyewitness saw "two police vans, three marked cars, and one unmarked police car" arrive at the hotel on West Quay Road.

She reported seeing a man being carried out of the building "in ankle and wrist restraints" by officers.
