Hampshire police are warning parents after the Warsash Maritime School was trashed.

Police officers have taken to Facebook asking parents to check what their children are doing during the school Easter holiday.

The officers involved said that thousands of pounds worth of damage was caused to the school building on Newtown Road.

The school is a maritime training facility that is part of Solent University, and offers maritime courses for students aged 16 and older.

Posting on Facebook on Saturday, a spokesperson for the force said: “Do you know where your kids are?

“This afternoon officers have been deployed to an incident of thousands of pounds worth of damage at Warsash Maritime School."

Five young people were also found nearby, their details obtained by police, and sent home to their parents, police said.

Police have now launched an investigation into what happened.

The officers involved said: "The offenders will be identified through CCTV and dealt with robustly.

“We understand that it is half term and are more than happy for young persons to have fun but we will not stand for this sort of behaviour.

“The building is unsafe and is a safety risk to anyone inside, hence the high fences around the perimeter.

“We will continue to patrol the Strawberry Fields and Warsash area over the holidays for other incidents of anti-social behaviour and offences.”
