A cafe on the River Hamble is set to be transformed into a restaurant with an outdoor terrace.

The countdown is on for the grand opening of the newly re-developed Boat House Café, which the team behind it says 'will become the hottest destination along the Hamble River this summer'.

The re-development will transform the venue, expanding its footprint to provide a restaurant, coffee shop and a large south-facing terrace with outdoor seating, ideal for leisurely summer days and balmy evenings.

After many years in the planning, the 10-month project is nearing completion with an anticipated opening in late June.

The Boat House Café is part of the Ideal Collection group of hospitality venues across the south.

Managing Director Oliver Weeks said: “After successfully trading on this site for 12 years, we are incredibly excited to enter this new phase for this much loved local restaurant - it’s been a long time coming.

“With its prime waterfront location overlooking the marina and the renowned Hamble River, the Boat House Café is poised to become the go-to destination for everything from morning coffees to sunset cocktails.

Emphasising their commitment to food provenance, he said: “We proudly source locally and seasonally, ensuring that every dish tells a tale.  Fresh catches straight off the day’s boats are a highlight of our revamped menu, promising an elevated experience for breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.”

“We’re really looking forward to welcoming back customers old and new to the Boat House Café this summer, ready for the peak holiday season and warmer weather.”

Currently operating as a temporary pop-up café, the venue continues to offer a breakfast, brunch and lunch menu, along with a full drinks selection.

The Boat House is the sister location to the Boat House at Chichester Marina.
