The pest that forced a McDonald’s restaurant to close has been revealed.
A cockroach infestation shut the Shirley Road branch last week, the fast-food chain has revealed.
The problem is yet to be fully resolved, but the restaurant has been ‘thoroughly cleaned and sanitised’.
A reopening date has not been confirmed by the company.

A spokesperson from McDonald’s said: “Last week we made the decision to temporarily close our Shirley Road restaurant while our pest control partner thoroughly investigated and dealt with an issue.
“Following a pest sighting, we thoroughly cleaned and sanitised the restaurant, and have remained closed for a period to ensure experts are completely confident the issue has been fully resolved.
“We have informed Southampton City Council of both the issues and the thorough actions that are underway.
“We would like to apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused and look forward to reopening our doors as soon the issue is fully resolved.”
