Motorists have been caught in long delays as road works begin on a major Southampton road.
Works on the A27 at Kanes Hill began on Tuesday and are due to continue until Thursday.
It is a busy thoroughfare through the eastern part of the city, which is seeing more traffic than usual recently because of the closure of the A334, Charles Watts Way.
According to Southampton City Council's interactive roadworks map the works are being carried out by Openreach.

Two-way traffic lights have been set up between Kanes Hill roundabout and Windhover roundabout.
The planned work is for "utility repair and maintenance", with motorists warned that delays are likely.
There is also further work on that stretch of road by gas company SGN, which is will see some carriageway incursion.
Delays are likely for the works, which are due to conclude by midnight on May 20.
The A334 is due to remain closed until June 7 after a landslip at the side of the road meant major works were needed.
