Pictures taken in Southampton show the moments a suspected shoplifter was caught by police and security staff in the city centre.
On Thursday, shoppers and Southampton residents on Portland Terrace watched as a 27-year-old man was tackled to the ground by police.The force has said it was responding to a report of shoplifting from ASDA on Portland Terrace at around 1.20pm on Thursday, May 30.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We received a report of shoplifting at Asda, Portland Terrace at 1.20pm on Thursday, May 30.“Officers attended and a 27-year-old man from Chichester was subsequently issued with a Community Resolution.
“As part of this resolution, the man must attend a victim awareness course and comply with the shop’s civil recovery procedure.”
