Plans are being drawn up to convert an office building in Southampton into 14 flats.

An application relating to Notebeme House in the High Street has been submitted to the city council.

The applicant is seeking consent to turn the building into 13 one-bedroom flats and one two-bedroom property.

A supporting statement that forms part of the application says part of the building is also vacant.

It adds: "The legislation changed on March 5th 2024 to remove the requirement for a three-month month vacancy period, in a drive from the government to boost the delivery homes.

"The proposal creates residential accommodation meeting space standards, providing housing in a sustainable manner in an accessible area.

"Whilst the existing building is commercial in use, the immediate adjacent building at Eastgate House is residential in use and the nearest neighbouring building to the north, The Greenwich, 81-82 High Street, is a purpose built residential block.

"In addition, Porters House and Seaway House both contain residential accommodation at upper levels."

The statement says the site is in a highly accessible location and considered sustainable, with access to shops, services, and amenities.
