The Southampton International Boat Show will be making a return to the city this September and there will be plenty of exciting attractions to try out.

Running from Friday, September 13 to Sunday, September 22 the event will be in its 55th year for its 2024 iteration.

Thousands of people will be able to explore various exhibits and ships on display, as well as a variety of attractions.

Its website says: "The 55th edition of the show will feature everything the leisure marine industry has to offer.

"Ranging from paddleboards to superyachts, kayaks to catamarans, and all the products and services in between. If it’s on or around the water – you’ll find it at the show."

Southampton International Boat Show 2024 attractions

A number of attractions at the Boat Show will get visitors out on the water ranging from "seasoned water sports enthusiasts and newcomers" alike.

Try-a-Boat

Try-a-Boat offers visitors a chance to step aboard a variety of vessels, "from nimble RIBs to stately sailboats".

The website adds: "Guided by the expert instructors of Flexisail, whether you're a seasoned sailor or a newcomer eager to find your sea legs, this experience is designed to give you a real taste of maritime life."

Watersports Lake

The Watersports Lake is returning to the Boat Show after being introduced last year and will be offering more sessions this time around.

It will be ideal for those looking to try kayaking for the first time or for those looking to improve their skills.

Get Afloat 

The Get Afloat experience will allow visitors to take the helm of "top-tier dinghies" under expert instruction.

Ocean Scene Mini Cruise

A more relaxing attraction can be found with the Ocean Scene Mini Cruise which offers short journeys around the Solent.

Visitors will be able to take in great views around the area and make the most of on-board refreshments.

The website adds: "Additionally, visitors can step back in time aboard the traditional Dutch tall ship Thalassa. Step into the shoes of sailors from bygone eras and feel the thrill of high seas adventure."

Andark Dive Tank

Free snorkelling and diving sessions are available through the Andark Dive Tank which offers the opportunity to "explore underwater worlds, supported by top-of-the-line equipment and professional guidance".

To try out these experiences visitors can book them on the day at the show outside of the Thalassa afternoon cruise.

Mark Ring, Head of Event at British Marine, organisers of the Southampton International Boat Show, said: "Last year over 9,000 visitors enjoyed an on-water experience at the show.

"This year, by incorporating special feature boats and enhancing our capacity, along with working closely with exhibitors, we aim to provide even more opportunities for people to get out on the water."
