Mr Wilkinson said that Mr Hennessey was admitted to hospital on May 14, two days after he suffered a fall in Lanzarote while there on a business trip.
He was admitted to the general care unit where his condition declined and he died.
An initial cause of death has been given as decompensated alcohol liver disease, and multiple rib fractures believed to have been caused by the fall.
Mr Wilkinson adjourned the inquest to take place on June 30 next year.
