Thousands in Southampton will be flocking to the beer gardens in the city on Sunday to watch England take on Serbia for the Euros – but will the sun be shining?

Taking on Serbia in England’s first game of the Euros, football fans in Southampton will be eager to put their red and white shirts on a get a pint in a beer garden.

However, the weather in Southampton may not be dry enough for residents to commit to shorts and t-shirts just get, as showers are expected across the weekend.

Saturday afternoon will be particularly drizzly in the afternoon, while Sunday is set to drier with the sun making periodic appearances from behind the clouds.

A spokesperson from the Met Office said: “Early cloud soon clearing and breaking. Sunny spells and occasional showers follow, turning heavy and perhaps thundery at times.

“Feeling rather cool, especially in the breeze. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

“Sunny spells on Sunday, with isolated showers. Maximum temperature 17 °C.”
