A cheese and wine bar has closed after less than one year in business.

It is hard cheese for those hoping to pay a visit to Piace as it is permanently closed.

The bar in London Road opened its doors in July of last year but has now been adorned with a large ‘To Let’ sign in the window.

It is believed the establishment has been shut for several weeks.

Advertised by Newton Scott, the listing describes the site as an “attractive retail unit” that is amongst a “wide variety of restaurants, cafes, convenience stores and general retail businesses in this popular and busy retail parade".

The requested rent payment is £22,500 per year.

When Piace first opened last year, it was warmly decorated with strings of fairy lights and rustic décor.

But now the site is completely bare as shown in the Newton Scott photos, with all traces of a cheese and wine bar ripped out.

Speaking to the Echo last year, manager Jemma Gammon said it was her dream to open and run a bar like this.

She has been approached for a comment about the closure but has not responded.
