A new big screen displaying bus departure times has been installed by a busy bus stop in Woolston.

Officially known as a totem, the installation comes as part of works to the Woolston Travel Hub project, connecting the Woolston and Itchen Active Travel Zone and Eastern Quietway route.

The brand-new totem comes after Southampton City Council announced there would be infrastructure improvements such as new pedestrian crossings, resurfacing, upgraded lighting, cycle lanes and new wayfinding and real-time public transport information.

Commenting on the installation, Richard Tyldsley, Bluestar general manager said: “We welcome any improvements that provide useful information at bus stops for our customers, and hope this latest initiative is well received by those travelling with us here.”

Prior to the Woolston Travel Hub development, Cllr Eamonn Keogh commented: “The goal for all of our recent improvement works in and around Woolston is to ensure that people have good access to affordable, convenient, and sustainable modes of transport, enabling a genuine choice of how to travel for any one journey.”
