A main road in Southampton was closed on Friday night and in the early hours of Saturday morning due to a crash.

Police were first contacted about the crash on Thomas Lewis Way at 10.54pm on Friday, June 14.

It reportedly involved two cars, police said.

One person had minor injuries, according to the force, and was treated at the scene by paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service.

The incident led to the road being closed until around 12.15pm on Saturday morning.

Southampton City Council's highways team issued a warning to drivers to avoid the area.

A police statement said: "We were called at 10:54pm last night (Friday 14 June) to reports of a collision involving two cars on Thomas Lewis Way in Southampton.

"One person reported minor injuries and was treated at the scene by colleagues from South Central Ambulance Service."
