She was nominated by Lauren Denham, whose daughter Niamh is in Mrs Thompson's Year R class.

Lauren said: “Mrs Thompson goes above and beyond as a teacher.

“She spends her weekends doing up toys she’s found on Facebook. Recently she painted a sun damaged slide and bench and gave them new life for her Year R class.

“The children queue outside her door every morning excited to go in and they love her Disney sticker station.

“Every topic and subject is made fun and the school Christmas show was amazing - her dedication is unwavering. We are incredibly lucky to have her.”

Mrs Thompson has also been credited by parents for creating a pumpkin patch at Halloween  and building a winter wonderland light trail for the children at Christmas.
