The Fleming Park Leisure Centre played a large part in the lives of many Eastleigh residents for four decades.

Established in the 1970s, this facility offered a place for exercise and amusement until it was torn down in 2017.

Fleming Park Leisure Centre served as the headquarters for the Solent Stars basketball team from 1980 to 2007.

The team, which played a pivotal role in the establishment of the British Basketball League, also participated in the English Basketball League and the earlier National Basketball League.

But the centre's associations with basketball don't end there; the centre was also the base for the Southampton Trailblazers.

Following the Solent Stars, the team made the centre its home before disbanding in 2009.

In the wake of the construction activities at Fleming Park Leisure Centre, a cutting-edge facility was unveiled to the public on November 28, 2017.

The replacement venue - Places Leisure Centre - boasts an impressive array of amenities, such as an expansive eight-lane, 25-meter swimming pool, a fully-equipped gym, a dedicated ballet studio, squash courts, and a soft play area.

There are also outdoor all-weather pitches, three five-a-side pitches and four full-size tennis and netball courts.
