Isle of Wight ferries will be "extremely busy" today and a revised timetable is in force, Red Funnel has confirmed.

The ferry company has apologised, adding that departures will leave an hour later than scheduled due to the Red Kestrel freight ferry is currently out of service.

Red Funnel is also expecting an increase in demand for its services with around 55,000 people having attended the four-day music festival at the end of last week.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Red Funnel said: “We are expecting vehicle ferry departures from East Cowes to be extremely busy on Monday, June 24, due to the impact of our Freight Ferry, Red Kestrel being presently out of service.

“It has been necessary to revise our timetable from midday onwards.”

They added: “Sailings prior to 12:30 will remain as booked.

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience to your onward travel.”

East Cowes revised departure times will now take place hourly from 1.30pm until 12.30am.
