It was so saddening in Wednesday’s Echo to read the letter from the Southampton Itchen Conservative Party candidate.
He fails to mention the massive cuts that his government has made to funding for services for Southampton City Council and our people.
For someone who claims to be a financial expert, it is surprising that he misses this out. It is Conservative government cuts over many years that have so badly affected our city services.
These add up to hundreds of millions of pounds.
The Conservative candidate points out that Southampton voters want to elect the best person as MP. This is true and voters will decide who to elect.
Southampton people will want to compare Darren Paffey’s experience of Southampton with the Conservative’s sparse knowledge. Voters will compare Darren’s long history with our city with the Conservative, whose links with Southampton are very recent.
