The business improvement group GO! Southampton has been announced as a partner for the Light the South trail.
As reported, the art trail is taking place this summer in Southampton in a bid to raise funds for Southampton Children’s Hospital.
Supported by GO! Southampton, the Light the South event will kick off on July 13.
The event will feature 40 eight-foot tall lighthouses designed by various artists, along with 40 smaller sculptures called Little Lights designed by schools and community groups.
Participants can download the Light the South app for more information and exclusive offers.
The event is organised by Southampton Hospitals Charity and Wild in Art to raise funds for the hospital.
Flo Bevis, marketing manager for GO! Southampton, said: “We recognise that previous sculpture trails have not reached as far as Carlton Place or Oxford Street before and we were keen to change this.
“We are delighted to have been able to make this happen, as Light the South will be a huge benefit to the areas and BID members, bringing an estimated 250,000 visitors across the summer.”
Ellis Banfield, chief executive of Southampton Hospitals Charity, said: “As well as creating a brilliant adventure for families, Light the South will help Southampton Hospitals Charity to shine a light on, and raise vital funds for our Children’s Hospital.”
All sculptures will be auctioned for the hospital charity at the Southampton International Boat Show.
