Strike action at Oasis Academy Lord's Hill has been called off after an agreement with bosses at the trust over safety and workload.

Planned industrial action at the school on Romsey Road was due to take place today and yesterday (10 and 11 July).

But after discussions between the National Education Union (NEU) and the school's leadership, the decision has been made to call off strikes.

The decision comes after teachers and staff walked out on June 25, as well as July 3, 4 and 9 due to concerns over safety and workload.

Nick Childs, Senior Regional Officer at the NEU said: "It is disappointing that it took sustained industrial action to drive home to Oasis Learning Trust that member’s concerns over safety and workload needed to be taken seriously.

"Nevertheless, we are pleased that agreement has now been reached on these important areas.

"Members have been clear that the agreement reached on staff safety and workload needs to be fully implemented on the ground to avoid further strikes in Sept and our will be closely monitoring the situation accordingly. "

No dates have been set yet for possible strike action in September though it is hoped that this will not be needed.

Members of the Union will meet in mid-September to discuss progress over the next two months.

The cancellation comes after the school received a damning Ofsted earlier this week where it was graded inadequate.
