A senior worker has been nominated for a business award.

Rob Anarfi, Group Chief Risk Officer at Beazley plc, is a finalist in the 2024 Black British Business Awards (BBBAwards).

The BBBAwards will unveil winners from six industries on Friday, October 11, at London's InterContinental Park Lane as well as marks its eleventh edition this year.

The ceremony honours the exceptional contributions of Black professionals and entrepreneurs across the UK.

This year, 36 finalists from a variety of industries are being celebrated, working for prestigious firms such as Amazon, Apple, Burberry, L’Oréal, American Express, Ralph Lauren, EY, and KPMG.

Rob Anarfi's journey to becoming a high-ranking executive is a testament to his unyielding dedication and expertise.

Throughout his term at Beazley, he has transformed many assurance functions and significantly upgraded the Group’s risk management framework. Notably, Rob has made significant strides in diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

As an advocate of gender balance, he led the Group's Inclusion and Diversity steering group and saw female representation in senior leadership rise from 27 per cent to 45 per cent.

This initiative was supported by the organisation's participation in the Women in Finance Charter.

As a proponent for racial equality in the insurance sector, Rob not only increased representation from 19 per cent (4 per cent Black) to 25 per cent (6 per cent Black) at Beazley, but his mentoring has also helped bring more people of colour into the company.

In addition to his efforts within Beazley, he also co-founded and co-chairs, RATL, a scheme partnered with insurance company leaders to boost racial diversity in the industry.

Mr Anarfi said: "I’m immensely honoured to be a finalist of the 2024 Black British Business Awards. Among other purposes, the Awards fulfil an essential purpose of highlighting Black Excellence, which mainstream media and events fail to do.

"My nomination and finalist position for me are a recognition of my efforts to support the Black community in our endeavours to dream big, excel, and take others with us as we rise. I hope to use the platform the BBBAwards provides to extend those efforts."
