Sadly no one was surprised that there was an attack on President Trump, the atmosphere in American politics has been dangerously high fuelled in no little part by the internet over recent history.
I have friends both Democrats and Republicans and they detest each other's politics to a shocking degree.
American politics is littered with assassination attempts, both successful and failed, partly fuelled by their lax gun laws and as they say, if you do not learn from history, the same things keep happening.
The attack on Donald Trump proves that point.
