Fans of Jane Austen took a step back in time and showcased their best Regency outfits days before the anniversary of her death.

The Jane Austen House museum, once the home of the renowned author, held its annual Regency Dress up Day on Saturday.

People did not need any Persuasion to flock to Chawton for the highly anticipated annual event, with many dressed to the nines.

Among those were Amy Doolan and her mother Tracey who enjoyed donning Regency clothes.

The popular event is held on the Saturday closest to July 18 – the date Austen died – to celebrate the life and times of the author.

Jane Austen spent her 18th birthday at The Dolphin Hotel in Southampton and was a frequent visitor to the city.

She was laid to rest inside Winchester Cathedral.
