Police have revealed why they were called to a bridge near a Southampton train station last night (14 July).
According to an eyewitness, several police cars were spotted there and the road was taped off.
This afternoon, police confirmed they were there for several hours, dealing with an incident involving the 'welfare of a man'.
A force spokesman said: Officers were called at about 9.25pm on Sunday to a concern for the welfare of a man on Horseshoe Bridge, near St Deny's train station.
"Police attended along with the ambulance service."
The spokesman confirmed that no one was injured, and that police units left the scene at 1.15am, after the man was left in the care of paramedics.
