A social media star planned to water ski behind a cruise ship in Southampton for a YouTube video.

But YouTube sensation Max Fosh told the Echo he had to ditch the plans after insurance companies refused to cover him for it.

He spoke to the Echo ahead of his world tour – which will see him perform at the O2 Guildhall on October 7.

The 29-year-old personality’s YouTube channel has more than four million subscribers and has amassed more than a billion views.

His best-known videos include pranks such as installing a sign saying ‘Welcome to Luton’ at Gatwick Airport - which made the news in May 2022 - and breaking into a national security convention in London.

Speaking to the Echo, the 29-year-old spoke about how his ideas come about.

He said: “I am often thinking about juxtapositions and contrast in the videos.

"For example, the [national security conference] video came about when my stepbrother said that it was happening next week.

“And then I immediately thought of the juxtaposition of that and that the funny thing would be to break into the convention.”

When asked if he had any ideas which would involve Southampton, he revealed: “I have had an idea which has probably been shelved into annals of history where a long time ago I wanted to water ski behind a cruise ship. So if I was ever to do that, Southampton would be the place for that.

But, he added: “Insurance companies unfortunately will not insure me.”

An encapsulation of his YouTube channel - which has seen him technically win an Oscar among other life hacks - Loophole will also see Max visit the United States and New Zealand.

He said: “You don’t need to have watched any of my videos before.

"It’s all about the loopholes that I have found in life, which hopefully will be useful to people in the future."
