Emergency services have revealed why they partially closed a bridge over the River Itchen on Tuesday monring.
Police attended Northam Bridge at around 10.51am this morning after reports of concern for the welfare of a man.
Officers found the man safe on arrival.
Northam Road was under a lane restriction whilst the emergency services attended the incident.
It fully reopened again at around 11.20am.
Motorists were warned to approach the area with caution and plan any journeys.
