Barton Peveril Sixth Form College brought the curtains down on its final production of the year, The Wedding Singer.

The performance, held on July 6, included a series of standing ovation performances at the Rose Theatre over three nights.

The lead performers were regarded for their character interpretation, text delivery and songs, delivering compelling renditions with clear and voices that enlivened the musical evening.

Luca Cascarini and Lily Rochard led the cast as Robbie Hart and the kind-hearted Julia, respectively.

Scarlett Rixon, who portrays Holly, said: "The Wedding Singer has been the most incredible experience and I have loved absolutely every minute." Through her time in the production, the A-level Drama and Theatre Studies student formerly of Thornden School found enhanced confidence and conveyed deep gratitude for the opportunity.

The production witnessed a portrayal of an evolving on-stage relationship between Robbie and Julia, attributing it to a palpable vulnerability during performances of pieces such as Not That Kind of Thing and If I Told You.

Also part of the ensemble were Jimmi Donnelly and Zeth Franco, who, as the bandmates George and Sammy, provided comedic relief.

Mr Franco, an A-level Drama and Theatre Studies and Musical Theatre student, recounts his stint as a huge blessing and a confidence boost, capping off his sixth-form experience on a high note.

He said: "I’m so thankful I was able to end my sixth-form experience on such a high.

"I will forever be thankful to be able to perform with such a skilled group of people and will cherish the moments shared together forever!"

The supporting cast members, Esther Langmead, Lucie Street, and Faith Jefferis-Laird added to the expertise showcased in the production.

For the staff of the Performing Arts Department, interacting and working with the students through this production has brought about a heartfelt sense of pride.
