May I through the columns of the Daily Echo, make further comment on the re-opening of the Waterside Railway Line, which was the subject of an article in your edition of Wednesday, July 17.
Under this newly elected Government, the delivery of rail services is to be taken back into public ownership. This will stop the export of profits to foreign owners.

The same needs to apply to the water companies. There is, therefore, no obstacle that should now stand in the way of preventing the re-opening of the Waterside Railway Line, re-connecting the 70,000 population of the Waterside, with the rest of the UK-wide rail services.
Not to put this in hand with immediate effect, in the light of the dire traffic congestion and air pollution in the city, would be an abuse of the population affected.
The thing to do now is to sweep the platforms, give the stations a lick of paint, install ticket machines, switch on the lights and it is all system go.
Thank you so much. I will now book my ticket.
