Tributes have been paid to a popular teacher who died last week.

Kirsty Wicken taught at Bridgemary School after working as a teacher in Chichester.

Ms Wicken was the teacher of child development and special educational needs/disabilities coordinator (SENDCo) at the Gosport school.

Announcing the news, headteacher Tom Garfield said she made a “huge impact” on the school’s community.

He said: “In her role as SENDCo working directly with our young people with special educational needs, Kirsty made a huge impact on our community and touched the lives of many young people and their families.

“Her dedication to the best interests of the students in her care means that so many of them are now able to engage positively in their education.

“Her work has quite literally changed lives."
