The best bakeries in Southampton have been revealed – do you agree with the verdict?

Daily Echo readers have spoken and revealed the best place for a doughnut or cream bun.

We are spoilt for choice in Southampton with several independent bakeries on our doorstep.

See the list below and get your sweet tooth fix of baked goods.

Oven Door Bakery

Woolston

Overwhelmingly, this popular bakery came out on top.

Multiple comments were made on a Daily Echo Facebook post, recommending Oven Door.

Sharon Thomas said: “Our doughnuts had so, so much jam in them. You could feel the weight.

“Yummy”.

Bakers Dozen

West End and Netley

Both Bakers Dozen locations were recommended by our readers.

Customers are particularly fond of their bread offering, and sweet treats of course.

Hoffers Bakery

Bassett

This bakery is another popular choice amongst readers.

Boasting ‘traditional’ cakes and bread, many good words have been spoken about the Burgess Road business.

One review online, made in June, reads: “The bread pudding is to die for.

“Extremely happy people work there, you can tell they love doing what they do.”

Reeve the Baker

Romsey

Although this bakery is slightly further afield, it is clearly worth the journey.

Natalie Wagner said: “Absolutely amazing cakes and sandwiches”.

Reeve also has other locations across the south, including Salisbury and Winchester.

Plested Bakehouse

Bitterne Park

Many people suggested Plested, but if they hadn’t, we would have mentioned it anyway.

The bakery recently opened at the former Cotton Bakery site, much to the delight of Southampton residents.

Plested is home to delicious sandwiches and pasties, vegan options, and mouth-watering cinnamon cookies.
