Southampton’s heritage steamship SS Shieldhall will be staging a special cruise to view the yachts participating in Cowes Week this weekend.

On her way down Southampton Water, from 10am on Saturday (July 27), Shieldhall will pass the mighty cruise ships Arcadia, Celebrity Apex, Iona and MSC Virtuosa in berth, at close quarters.

Guests on board will then see the yachts racing at Cowes Week, the oldest and most respected regatta in the world, 198 years young in 2024!

The regatta is part of the British summer social calendar, traditionally held after Goodwood and before the start of the grouse shooting season. Over the years the regatta has been visited by royalty and other world-famous personalities as well as naval warships, superyachts and square-riggers.

Shieldhall offers opportunities to enjoy the colourful spectacle of this annual seven day event, with guests encouraged to have their cameras at the ready!

On Sunday, from 2.30pm, Shieldhall welcomes the Southampton Salty Sea Dogs Shanty Band for an afternoon Steam to the Solent cruise.
