Two men have been seriously injured in a major crash on the A34 which saw military vehicles “flip over”.

The incident occurred at around 11am on Saturday afternoon on the Hampshire A-road by Newbury, close to the Oxfordshire border.

Emergency services including an air ambulance attended the scene and police closed the road in both directions.

Hampshire Constabulary confirmed that two men were taken to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

A spokesman said: “A man in his 30s suffered a serious injury to his leg and was taken to hospital.

“A man in his 20s suffered a serious injury to his arm and was also taken to hospital.”

The road had reopened as of 11pm on Saturday.

The Military of Defence has also confirmed that it was their vehicles that were involved in the serious crash.

A spokesperson for the MoD said: “We are aware of a road traffic collision involving two military vehicles.

“The incident is currently under investigation, therefore it would be inappropriate to comment further.”
