A patient at a dental practice that suddenly closed without warning has told of her ‘horror’ after being left with unbearable pain.
Patients at Brunswick Place Dental in Southampton were shocked when a notice was placed on the door saying: “this practice is now closed until further notice”.
It is not yet known why the practice – which offers NHS and private services - has gone into administration, but patients have been left to fend for themselves.
One patient of Brunswick Place Dental Surgery is Louise Havinga, 38, who was in the process of being treated for an infection in her tooth which causes constant pain, irritation and discomfort.
Louise has been with the practice for eight years and was in the process of writing a letter to them to obtain her medical records when she learned of the closure.

She said: “In eight years of being with the practice are don’t have a good word to say about them.
“It was 3am and I was awake as I was struggling with the pain in my mouth – I looked on Facebook and saw the news of the closure.
“I went into real shock when I saw that.
“For months I have been in agony waiting for an appointment and the dentist has now shut with no sign of my medical records.
“I need my medical records for my treatment going forward – now I have been left without them and am fighting to contact someone.”
Banister and Polygon ward member at Southampton City Council, Vivienne Windle, has urged patients to contact the NHS 111 helpline if they need an emergency dentist.
Louise continued: “I have to take painkillers every day which is just debilitating. Me and my daughter have had to cancel trips away together.
“I get just two hours of sleep most nights as the pain keeps me awake.
“The infection even makes me self-conscious of my breath and I can’t eat properly or enjoy a meal – all while my dental practice has closed.”
