More than 40 teens from Hampshire’s schools attended a medical summer school programme at the University of Southampton to get a taste of life as doctors.
The event took place on July 28-29, organised by the University's LifeLab to inspire future healthcare professionals.
The aspiring medics participated in clinical skills sessions at University Hospital Southampton, toured the Acute Medical Unit and the locally significant NIHR Southampton Clinical Research Facility.
Additionally, they took part in anatomy lessons and were advised by current medical students and Dr Laura Croucher, a Dorset-based paediatric registrar.
Kate Bartlett, developing talent lead for LifeLab, said: "We were delighted to see so many pupils from variety of schools across the area take part in our medical summer school. There is a shortage of clinical staff across our country, so it is vital to give young people valuable experience of what a role in healthcare could be like."
